I got my copy of Rice Boy in the mail today. It’s been a while since I read the comic online [here] and I’m looking forward to reading it all in its full color glory. (Though I am sad about the wrinkle in the spine).

In Rice Boy, Rice Boy learns how to speak in symbols, which can also be used to manipulate things as seen [here]. So I guess my “fan art” is of RB using this ability to draw a picture of himself with a hat, despite the fact he has no arms

Evan Dahm completed Rice Boy in May and started a new comic: [Order of Tales]. Order of Tales takes place in the same world at Rice Boy, but at an earlier time, and is not directly related otherwise to Rice Boy. Read them!!!

Rice Boy, the eponymous hero of the comic, lives on one side of a flat disk-shaped world. His journey starts when T-O-E names him fulfiller of an ancient prophecy which may or may not be correct. Rice Boy agrees to go to meet a friend of T-O-E’s in order to understand more about this prophecy, and from that point on Rice Boy becomes an almost entirely passive character, buffeted around by events in a causal chain. As the story progresses and Rice Boy learns more about the nature of the prophecy and becomes aware of his powerlessness. As the story climaxes Rice Boy must decide whether to fulfil his role, or to choose free will over fate.
