Fairy Photo Mashup

I was looking at a a tutorial at [psdfan.com] on how to mash-up photos. This is something I already have experience in, but I like the selection of photos picked. So instead I want to make a proper stencil (unlike my nymph stencil where the face is ready to go but the hair is far to complex). This takes a lot of time though.

Before I can even start turn the pieces in to stencils I have to cut the pieces out and then mash them together so that I can make the sizes relative to each other. But they’re different images with many different colors, so the process I go through to prep for stenciling is better done separately so I need to keep the layers separate. Now comes the multiple filters, adjustment layers, and manual redrawing of whole sections — for each different piece. The wings are actually turning out to be the most complex.

So here is the mash-up (because it took so damn long) — a taste of what’s to come. Tomorrow the stencil, and maybe this weekend I’ll actually spray it on some plywood :-)
